Guesthouse Staycation

Guesthouse Staycation

It sounded like a fun idea. Plus, the convenience factor was attractive since our daughter was in town... Jon and I agreed to celebrate our anniversary with a staycation, an idea sparked by an online search for vacation properties. When I checked out Bees Nees's website, I was struck by this statement on their Shop the Look Page: What if your fave destination was your own home?

Inspired to see the potential directly before me, I presented to Jon the idea of celebrating our anniversary with an overnight stay in our guesthouse! Many people have enjoyed nights at our studio space, so why wouldn't we?
I really didn't have a plan in place for the evening. We had spent all day in Virginia Beach doing the whale watching excursion (eek!), lunch and shopping. We typically celebrate our anniversary with a nice dinner out. But there are no rules with a staycation, right? You can try something different! So we did! We ordered a pizza from our favorite neighborhood pizzeria and enjoyed dinner on the sofa watching game shows. Corny, I know!
I noticed that the longer I sat in the studio space, the more I thought about the plans we have to do to make it a better guesthouse. We're currently designing the kitchen installation, so that work stayed on my mind.
Also, at some point in the middle of the night, I realized I had been tossing and turning a lot. Everything was off and kept me from sleeping. You know how it is when you're not in your own bed. The blanket is hotter, the room is brighter, and the noises are louder. I probably slept a solid four hours. Woo-hoo! I hung in there until five and finally packed up some things and snuck back to the house.
The twenty-four hour celebration came to a close. Was it good? It was great! There were definitely some memorable moments! But, I don't think I'll ever suggest another overnight stay in our guesthouse!
